Lidl Grocery Store Moving into Former Kmart on Golden Mile
Great things are happening on the Golden Mile! Lidl, a grocery chain that began in Germany, agreed to a lease with DLC Management to take over the former Kmart location on West Patrick Street. Lidl is expected to open on the Golden Mile in 2021, and is moving into a space with nearly 28,000 square feet, according to the city’s office of economic development. Lidl is expected to share the big-box space with Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and a still-to-be-determined tenant, according to DLC Management’s development brochure.

Frederick examines options for restaurants reopening outdoor seating
With Maryland poised to allow the reopening of outdoor seating and service for restaurants beginning Friday, the city of Frederick is considering various options to help make it happen. Those options include temporary street closures, reorganizing parking and setting up tables in parks, parking lots and other areas. City approves resolution to support NPS facility at Westside Regional Park
The city of Frederick has officially endorsed a plan for the National Park Service to consolidate several services at the city’s Westside Regional Park on Golden Mile. The city’s aldermen voted unanimously Thursday night to approve a resolution of support for the park service’s plans to move its Historic Preservation Training Center and the Harpers Ferry Center Museum Conservation and Collections Facility to the 135-acre park being developed along Butterfly Lane on Frederick’s southern edge. The resolution was needed for park service staff to seek funding for the project at the professional level, Marc DeOcampo, chief administrative officer for the city, told the aldermen.
